Tanzania Rohrs
Sometimes, in the course of your life, God opens the door to a friendship that touches your soul in ways you’d never imagined.
About a year ago, my family and I attended the first birthday party of an adorable little boy that we all love. At that party, we met another family with which we instantly connected. Though we live in the same city and we share the same likes (Doctor Who anyone?) the Rohrs family and mine don’t see each other nearly as often as we’d like. But in some weird way, I think that’s one of the special things about our friendship. I don’t need to see them every day or even every week to know how much I adore them. And I know that even though we circle around each other in work and social media, that I could call Joe or Dory at any time and they would be there. That’s a special and amazing sort of friendship that doesn’t happen very often. Whether they realize it or not, they’ve blesssed our lives amazingly.
This beautiful family has received a call. The call actually. They’re getting ready to leave our beautiful city of San Antonio to travel around the world and minister in Tanzania. (Where? What? I know. I said the same thing. Here’s some more info on Tazania. ) The picture above is their new house – being built just for them! Isn’t that cool?
It’s odd that they’re leaving because we don’t see each other that often, but I know they’re here. As with some of my other friends who have moved overseas for various reasons, I think it’s likely that our friendship will develop with more communication when they leave the U.S. Why is that? I don’t know. Are we too busy here? Perhaps. I think that’s a different blog entry though.
I love the Rohrs family like they are my own. As they make this journey and follow God’s plan, they’re seeking assistance. I’d like to share their story and ask you to consider it. These are beautiful, special, amazing people. The light of God literally shines through them. (Seriously! Look at these faces!) Supporting them is something that I know will change your life – because just knowing them has changed mine.
Please consider giving – even just $5 a month (they’ll tell you which member of the family you are allowing to stay there for that much!) – to help these wonderful people as they take the gospel to Tanzania.
